Hold on to these moments

I told myself I would write every day in December – and here it is 11:47 on December first. I do write almost every day, but it’s nothing personal. It’s work. I was thinking about a Counting Crows song this morning. Craving a song like I crave chocolate. A Long December has that balance of of ennui and hope that hits me right in the gut, while also making me wonder about Courtney Cox and Adam Duritz. Are they still Friends?

She appears in the video. He has said he wrote:
All at once you look across a crowded room
To see the way that light attaches to a girl
about her.

Sigh.

Duritz has been diagnosed with depersonalization disorder, a mental illness that leaves him feeling disconnected from his thoughts and body. It “makes you think you’re imagining things and that nothing is real,” he explained to The New York Post this past August.

I think we all feel a little of that at times. Aquarians for sure.

I think he’s feeling better these days. It’s strange to see 50-year-old Adam now, on Twitter, on Instagram…and Tinder? OK, then.

Back to Long Decembers. I’m going for one.
And here I am posting more song lyrics like a 13-year-old girl. Owning it!

I guess the winter makes you laugh a little slower,
Makes you talk a little lower about the things you could not show her
And it’s been a long December and there’s reason to believe
Maybe this year will be better than the last
